RETIREMENT

Well, we'd LIKE to do some traveling, but while we are caregivers for Morris's elderly mom [age 88 in Sept. 2012] and his disabled brother [COPD], we can't really both be gone for long periods. There is just too much that we need to be able-bodied-on-hand to do that they just aren't physically capable of doing anymore.

With that constraint, we plan on establishing 2 or 3 major events each that one of us can do solo while the other stays home and tends the house.
My events will most-likely be Fannish and Morris's events will most-likely be Civil Air Patrol or computer-related.
Shorter events [1 or 2 days] in either category we could attend together, especially if they are close to home.

My fixed major events currently are the GaFilk filk convention in Atlanta in January, and the FenCon general SF convention in Dallas in September. The third event for me is negotiable each year, depending on what looks interesting in March or April.

Photos from past road-trips:
March 2006, Little Rock to Chicago and back for an SF convention, with a side trip toValparaiso to see Sharon and other friends.
This wasn't MY road trip; it was done by a young aviator who made a stop in Little Rock. I went out to the airport to interview her for a CAP Aerospace Current Event.

Meantime, we are Gardening.
As I type this in November 2012 there is a plot disked-up off to the west of the house, with its first application of pelletized lime applied and waiting to be plowed-under.

We WANT to grow all sorts of things. TBA what actually gets into the ground. Watch this space.
